When East Meets West 2027 Co-production Forum: call for submissions
News 02.09.2026When East Meets West (17–19 January 2027) turns the spotlight on Poland and the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg).
Flanders Image and Screen Flanders are supporting the participation of film projects from Flanders in WEMW in Trieste (17–19 January 2027).
This co-production market is an important step towards the international co-production, financing and distribution of European feature films.
The first call for entries is now open and runs until 10 October 2026. Producers must submit their projects directly to WEMW and will be selected independently by the curators.
When East Meets West
WEMW 2027 will take place on January 17-19, 2027 in Trieste (Italy) and will select 20 projects in development (narrative features, creative documentaries and short animated projects), with special attention to the 2027 East & West spotlight countries: Poland & Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands.
For this upcoming edition WEMW is proud to announce the brand new Eurimages Co-production Development Award, a cash prize of the value of 20.000€ designed to provide financial support to international co-productions – strengthening the creative exchanges that lie at the heart of the European film industry.
Eligibility criteria:
● Producers from Europe, Latin America, Canada, USA are eligible to apply
● Projects can be narrative features, creative documentaries, short animated projects in
development/financing stage with 10% of the total production budget already in place
● Projects must have international co-production potential
● Projects should preferably be the director’s first or second feature
