Breendonk
Breendonk was first announced at last year’s Séries Mania as part of the international New8 collaboration. The series will now celebrate its world premiere in Lille.
Set in the WW2 prison camp Breendonk, the series depicts a tale of love, betrayal and death, where Flemish Belgian Nazis stand guard over prisoners who were formerly their friends and neighbours.
Breendonk is written and directed by Kevin Janssens and Filip Lenaerts. The cast includes Anne-Laure Vandeputte, Jolan De Bouw, Koen De Bouw and Kevin Janssens. The series is produced by Pieter Van Huyck and Ivy Vanhaecke for De Mensen, in co‑production with VRT and Streamz, who will also broadcast the series.
The Best Immigrant
When a new far-right government decides to send everyone who wasn’t born in Belgium back to their country of origin, Muna and Jamal decide to risk it all by taking part in The Best Immigrant, a ruthless game show with the grand prize of a residence permit.
The Best Immigrant is written by Cristina Poppe, Raoul Groothuizen, Michel Sabbe, Hasse Steenssens and Michael De Cock, and directed by Michael Abay (Klette). The series is produced by Helena Vlogaert and Dimitri Verbeeck for Lompvis and Caviar, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah serving as executive producers.
The Best Immigrant is a Streamz Original and will be available locally on Streamz, in French-speaking Belgium on BeTV, and from this summer also on France TV. International rights are handled by Sony Entertainment.
Breendonk and The Best Immigrant were made with the support of the VAF/Media Fund. The economic fund Screen Flanders also invested in both series.
