Screen Flanders invests €2.95 million in 15 new projects
News 01.12.2025Screen Flanders, VLAIO's economic fund for the audiovisual industry, is investing €2,950,000 in 15 new audiovisual productions. Due to the high demand and exceptional quality of the applications, Flanders’ Economic Affairs Minister Matthias Diependaele decided to increase the initial budget by €1.4 million. This additional investment enabled Screen Flanders to support eight more projects.
The 15 supported projects will generate more than €24.7 million in eligible audiovisual expenditure in the Flanders Region. The support awarded within this second call of 2025 varies between €50,000 and €400,000 per project.
Flanders' series and film scene is highly acclaimed internationally. High-quality productions with a significant Flemish contribution provide a leverage effect for our economy that should not be underestimated. This also increases the attractiveness of Flanders for both domestic and foreign audiovisual productions.
15 supported projects
Eight feature films and seven series will receive support within this call. These include two animation projects (the animated series Little Heroes and the animated feature film Look Who’s Visiting Tummy Tom!), one documentary series (Wild Belgium 2), five fiction series (Charlatan, Red Light Empire, The French Battle, Omerta and Hunters) and seven fiction feature films (Auwch_the movie, Gorgius, Paradise, Lords of War, Miss Good Stuff, Morgen Mehr and Two for Christmas). Eight of these productions are majority Flemish, six are minority Flemish and one is minority Belgian.
The selection of supported projects is very diverse and includes the feature film debuts of Flanders talents Saïd Boumazoughe and Caroline De Maeyer, the sequel to the popular Wild Belgium documentary series and feature film about our natural world, an adventurous animated series for children about inspiring historical figures, an international action thriller directed by Andrew Niccol, starring Nicolas Cage, and the new psychological thriller series from the producers of High Tides.
Results for 2025
A total of 39 projects were submitted during the two calls in 2025. Thanks to an additional economic injection from the Flanders Economic Affairs Minister, we are ending 2025 with 22 supported projects and a total support granted of €4,950,000. These supported projects comprise 11 series and 11 feature films, including 18 fiction projects, three animation projects and one documentary. We note a good balance between the 10 majority projects from Flanders and 12 minority co-productions with Flanders.
