Sum of Histories and Belgian Rhapsody selected for Montreal
Sum of Histories, Lukas Bossuyt’s feature debut, is to have its world premiere in the First Films Competition at the Montreal World Film Festival, which takes place from August 27 till September 7. Belgian Rhapsody, the musical comedy by director Vincent Bal will screen in the festival’s World Greats selection. Both features are support by the Screen Flanders Economic Fund.
A love story with a touch of sci-fi, Sum of Histories tells the story of Viktor, a brilliant young professor who discovers a way to manipulate time. Now he can finally change the past and help his beloved Lena, but not without risk… Koen De Graeve (Time of My Life, The Misfortunates) plays the main role, joined by Matteo Simoni (Marina, Crazy About Ya) and Robrecht Vanden Thoren (Come As You Are). Producers are Frank Van Passel and Ivy Vanhaecke of Caviar (Black, Paradise Trips).
Vincent Bal’s Belgian Rhapsody, an Eyeworks (Lee & Cindy C., The Verdict) production about two brass bands competing to represent Belgium, has been picked for the festival’s World Greats selection. Screenwriters are Vincent Bal and Pierre De Clercq (Labyrinthus, Halfway, Come As You Are).
Sum of Histories and Belgian Rhapsody received support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund/Film Fund of Flemish Cultural Affairs Minister Sven Gatz and the Screen Flanders Economic Fund, under the aegis of Economic Affairs Minister Philippe Muyters and Cultural Affairs Minister Gatz.
