Prime Minister reigns local box office


Erik Van Looy's new action thriller The Prime Minister registered close to 130,000 admissions in its first week, making it the number-one film at the local box office. This week the film also gets its market premiere at this year's American Film Market (AFM) where The Works International is handling worldwide sales.

On his way to a summit meeting in Brussels, the car of the Belgian Prime Minister is hijacked, his driver killed and the Prime Minister kidnapped. Soon, the PM learns that his wife and children are being held hostage. They will only survive if the politician kills the person he will meet at 3pm. Only this person is the President of the United States...

Starring Koen De Bouw (The Alzheimer Case/The Memory of a Killer, The Verdict, The Last Tycoon), Saskia Reeves (Nymphomaniac Pt I), Charlotte Vandermeersch (Loft, Belgica), Dirk Roofthooft (Clan/The Out-Laws) and Adam Godley (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

The Prime Minister is based on an original screenplay written by Carl Joos and Van Looy. DOP is Danny Elsen, with Merlijn Snitker and Philippe Ravoet respectively signing for the film's original score and the editing. Producer is Hilde De Laere for FBO.
